I consider myself to be an eco and health conscious person but I must admit, I never gave a thought as to the contents of my lubricant.  And boy did I miss something important.  There are so many lubricants out there for your sexual pleasure that do not give a moment of thought to the damage some ingredients can do to your skin!  It seems so obvious that the mucous membranes are the moist layer of semi-permeable tissue lining the mouth, nose, eyes, vagina and anus and as they do not have the protective layer found on the surface of the outer skin, these membranes can be damaged, irritated and penetrated by any synthetic chemicals much more easily.  So old style lubricants are usually made of synthetic chemicals, some with known or suspected safety issues, such as skin irritants, penetration enhancers or estrogen mimicking properties.  Sometimes there is no ingredient list at all!  So what to look for when shopping for a lube?  Think natural.  Certified and guaranteed purity and quality plus organically produced ingredients ensures product integrity and no hidden chemicals carried over from the production processes, such as the recent FDA alert for Diethylene glycol (anti-freeze) in glycerin.  Make sure there are no irritants like menthol or peppermint oil or grapefruit seed extract.

Furthermore, make sure its never been tested on animals and has no animal ingredients.  Why should fluffy have to die for your lubricant?  Not necessary at all.  Only plant based ingredients should be used unless there is no effective or safe natural option.

Look for names like organic Aloe Vera, organic Flax extract and Guar, Locust Bean and Xanthan gums which all of which contribute to a deep velvety texture. Cocoa butter and Shea butter are skin food, which impart smoothness and body.  Some Vitamin E helps the skin and acts as a preservative as well.  Enjoy!astroglidenew
